Milltown Malbay, although inland, takes it's name from
the nearby mal Bay.The Irish name for the town, however, means Village of
the Stone Fort. Milltown Malbay is an early example of town planning, so the
streets are laid out in a regular pattern which branches from a central main
and is famous for hosting the Willie Clancy Summer School, which attracts
traditional piping enthusiasts from Ireland and abroad every year July.
