Shannon, the second largest town in County Clare, is located just off the N18 National Primary Route from Ennis to Limerick. The N18 is an integral part of the western road network, which connects all of the major towns along the west coast from Derry in the North to Cork in the South. Shannon town is located on the river Shannon and is bordered on the West by Shannon International Airport and the Shannon Free Zone. On the North it is bordered by the airport flight path and some Industrial Development and to the East by the N18, the national primary route which links Limerick and Ennis.
