Mallow, on the river Blackwater is 35km north of Cork city and is a sugar manufacturing centre in the middle of a rich agricultural region. Mallow is well known as an angling and hunting centre, there is also a race course and golf. In the town itself the picturesque half timbered Clock House, the Spa Well and the Old Mallow Castle are worth seeing.
