Letterkenny, the chief town and ecclesiastical capital of County Donegal, overlooks Lough Swilly where the River Swilly drains into the lough. The Letterkenny Folk Festival brings together many European folk-dance teams every August. The Donegal Motor Rally takes place each June with Letterkenny as its base. The town's main street is one of the longest in Ireland. Recreational facilities at Letterkenny include golf (18), pitch and putt, tennis, squash, cinema and dancing. Salmon and trout fishing is available on nearby rivers and lakes. A leisure centre has a swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi and steam pool with plunge pool.
