The county of Tipperary is situated in the south of the country and extends from the border of Galway and the midlands to just short of the south coast. The largest inland county in the country Tipperary is a scenic County, fashioned by the Galtee Mountains, the River Suir and rich, lush, green landscape. Angling, golf, mountain walking and caves are all to hand and there's the Rock of Cashel, countless abbeys, castles, and forts to explore, experience and enjoy. The Rock of Cashel is one of the most prominent of Tipperary's landmarks. A large group of mediaeval buildings sit atop a rocky outcrop that dominates the skyline of the town of Cashel. Lough Derg is the largest of the Shannon's lakes, and is almost an inland sea. It is renowned for game and coarse angling, boating, sailing, windsurfing, and waterskiing.
